Accounting Education Research adheres to the highest standards of international scholarly publishing, following a double-blind peer review system. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential to ensure impartiality, fairness, and scientific integrity.
All submitted manuscripts are first screened by the editorial office to confirm their relevance to the scope of the journal and compliance with the author guidelines. Only manuscripts meeting these criteria are sent out for peer review. The review process is conducted as follows:
- Submission and Initial Check
- Manuscripts are submitted through the online journal management system.
- The editorial office and the Editor-in-Chief conduct an initial assessment (within one week) to evaluate relevance, quality, and adherence to submission guidelines.
- Preliminary Editorial Review
- The manuscript may be rejected at this stage due to lack of alignment with the journal’s scope, low quality, or insufficient originality.
- Authors may also be asked to make preliminary revisions before the manuscript is sent to reviewers.
- Peer Review
- Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers (occasionally three, if needed).
- Reviewers provide evaluations in one of the following categories:
- Accept
- Minor/Major Revisions Required
- Reject
- Editorial Decision
- Based on reviewers’ reports, the editorial board decides whether to:
- Reject the manuscript (if reviews are negative),
- Send it to a third reviewer (in case of conflicting reviews), or
- Request revisions from the authors.
- Revision and Resubmission
- Authors are required to address reviewers’ comments and resubmit the revised manuscript.
- The revised version may be sent back to the original reviewers for verification (comparative review).
- Final Decision
- The editorial board considers the reviewers’ recommendations and the authors’ revisions.
- The manuscript may then be:
- Accepted,
- Sent back for further revisions, or
- Rejected if the required changes have not been satisfactorily addressed.
- Publication
- Upon final approval by the Editor-in-Chief, accepted manuscripts proceed to publication.
This rigorous process ensures that all published articles meet high standards of originality, methodological soundness, and scholarly contribution.
